Ham Fried Rice


Ingredients

  • :   
  •   
  • 1 tablespoon butter  
  • 1 2/3 cups water  
  • 1 cup long grain rice  
  • 3 tablespoons oil, divided  
  • 2 large eggs  
  • 4 ounces cubed ham, cooked  
  • 1 small chopped onion  
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce  
  • 1 tablespoon oriental sesame oil  

Step by Step method

    Step 1.

    Step 2.

      In med saucean bring butter and water to a boil over high heat.

    Step 3.

      Stir in rice.

    Step 4.

      Reduce heat to med low and partially cover the pan, simmering until most of the liquid is absorbed, about 5 minutes.

    Step 5.

      Stir the rice with a fork.

    Step 6.

      Reduce heat to low and cover and continue cooking until tender, about 15 minutes.

    Step 7.

      In a large skillet heat 1 TBS oil over med high, coating the pan.

    Step 8.

      In a small bowl beat eggs.

    Step 9.

      Add the eggs to the skillet and fry until set, turning once.

    Step 10.

      Transfer to plate and cut into 1/2 inch by 2 inch strips, then set aside.

    Step 11.

      In the same skillet heat another TBS oil.

    Step 12.

      Add ham and cook until lightly browned.

    Step 13.

      Transfer ham to eggs and set aside.

    Step 14.

      In same skillet, add final TBS oil.

    Step 15.

      Add onion and stir fry for 1 minute.

    Step 16.

      Stir in peas, cover and cook til tender 2-3 minutes.

    Step 17.

      Gently stir in the rice, eggs, ham, soy sauce and sesame oil.

    Step 18.

      Cook til heated through.

    Step 19.

      Serve immediately.
